American Born Chinese by Gene Yang

“It’s easy to become anything you wish, so long as you’re willing to forfeit your soul.” This remarkable graphic novel is about coming to love yourself for who you are and not changing for worldly or cultural views. It was fascinating to see that it was a whole chain reaction of people finding themselves because of one person. All the characters needed help in the end. This graphic novel is about a boy named Jin Wang who tries to change himself to be more likable. There are also the points of view from a few other characters who also try to change themselves. Most of the characters end up helping each other reconnect with their true selves.
